The timing belt is a critical component that keeps the engine running in sync. If the belt snaps, the valves and pistons can collide, causing serious engine damage that is often more expensive than a new engine. Replacing it in time prevents this.
When should the timing belt be replaced?
The replacement interval depends on the make and model, but it is usually every 4 to 6 years or every 60,000 to 120,000 km. Send us your number plate and we'll check the exact interval for your car.
Should the water pump be replaced at the same time?
Often, yes. On many engines the water pump is driven by the same timing belt and sits behind the same cover. It is then wise to replace the water pump straight away, so you don't pay labour costs again later. The price for this is on request.
