Bringing your own parts — can AutoJet fit them?

More and more customers ask: can I buy a part myself and have you fit it? At AutoJet in Almere that's no problem — we only charge for the labour, by our price list or the €70 hourly rate. This guide explains how it works, what you gain, what to watch out for, and why it's smart to send your license plate first before you order anything.

Yes, you can bring your own parts

At AutoJet we also fit parts you've bought yourself — from a supplier, online, or second-hand. In that case we don't charge for the part, only for the labour to fit it. That can be worthwhile if you want a specific brand, or you found a good deal.

It works like a normal appointment: call or message us, we schedule a time, and you bring the part to Televisieweg 63. We fit it and test that everything works as it should.

What does fitting your own part cost?

The labour price doesn't depend on where the part came from — we work with a fixed price list per job, and where that doesn't apply, our €70 hourly rate. A few examples from daily practice:

Not sure what your job will cost? Send your license plate and the part you're considering — we'll give you a clear price up front.

Pros and cons at a glance

Honestly, bringing your own part has both upsides and pitfalls. Here's what to weigh up:

Warranty: what we do and don't cover

Important to be clear about: we stand behind our own installation work — if we fitted something incorrectly, we fix it. On the part itself (material defect, wrong type, premature failure) we give no warranty — that claim goes to the seller.

If it later turns out the part you brought is faulty or doesn't fit, that's frustrating, but it's no reason to doubt our workmanship. A second visit to fit the correct part instead is billed as a separate job.

Tip: send your license plate before you order

The most common mistake is ordering a part first and only checking whether it's correct afterwards. If it turns out wrong, that costs both time and money. So send us your license plate on WhatsApp first — we'll check which type of part fits your car, and only then do you order.

That way you won't pay for shipping twice or need a second workshop visit because the wrong part number or variant was ordered.

Frequently asked questions about bringing your own parts

Does AutoJet fit parts I bought myself?

Yes, that's no problem. We only charge for the fitting, by our price list or the €70 hourly rate — you've already paid for the part itself.

Do I get a warranty on the part I bring?

No, the warranty on the part itself runs through the seller you bought it from. We do stand behind the quality of our own installation work.

What if the part I bring turns out not to fit?

Then we can't fit it, or you'll need to exchange it. A second visit to fit the correct part is billed as a separate job. So send your license plate in advance — we'll check fitment before you buy.

What does fitting my own battery cost?

Battery fitting including coding is from €50 with us. Coding is needed on many modern cars so the battery management system recognises the new battery.

Is fitting your own part cheaper?

That depends on where you buy the part. With us you only pay for labour, so if you find a sharp part price yourself, it can save money. Just factor in the risk of a wrong or faulty part.

Can I just show up with my part?

Better to book an appointment first — by phone, WhatsApp or online — so we schedule time for you. Send your license plate along when you book.
